Checking and fixing the Virtual Store - WaveNet
If you do not start the WaveNet Manager with administrator rights and additionally work with changing Windows user accounts, the displayed WaveNet topology may be outdated.
If this problem occurs, then the generated network data of the WaveNet Manager was not stored in its installation directory. Changes to protected folders (such as the Windows program folder) require administrator privileges. If the WaveNet Manager does not have administrator privileges and wants to save in the protected program folder, Windows will redirect the generated data to the Virtual Store. This means that the network data is not stored in the intended location (used by WaveNet Manager), but in the Virtual Store.
If the WaveNet Manager is always started from the same Windows user account and not as an administrator and accesses the network data, then Windows intercepts the access and redirects it to the file in the Virtual Store. However, the moment WaveNet Manager is started from another Windows user account or as an administrator, this redirection no longer works and WaveNet Manager accesses the outdated network data in its installation folder (i.e. where it would normally be stored) and therefore displays an outdated WaveNet topology.
- Open the following file path:
C:\Users\Userame\AppData\Local\SimonsVoss. - Search for the WaveNetManager folder.
- Open the following file path:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\SimonsVoss. - Search for the WaveNetManager folder.
If you find the WaveNetManager folder in the checked directories, the output of the network data has been redirected at least once.
- Make a backup copy of the current location of the WaveNet Manager (displayed during startup, see Start).
- Move the network data from the checked file paths to the location set in WaveNet Manager.
- Start WaveNet Manager as administrator.
