CommNode and VNHost - AXM Plus

Your AXM Plus includes two different services that are automatically installed. Web apps for configuring these two services can be opened via the Start menu:

CommNode

VNHost

Intended purpose

The CommNode connects your networked locking devices to the database of your AXM Plus.

Example: You start the AXM Plus synchronisation of a locking device via the network. The programming task is sent from the AXM Plus to the CommNode. The latter is aware of how the relevant locking device can be accessed via the network and sends the programming command to the locking device via the appropriate RouterNode.

You need the CommNode, for example, for:

  • Programming your locking devices via WaveNet
  • Retrieving battery levels or access lists via WaveNet
  • Virtual network (to connect your gateways to the database)

The VNHost permits your gateways to query your database for information regarding the current identification medium. AXM Plus.

You need the VNHost for the virtual network. Once a gateway has recognised an identification medium, it must be able to query the database to determine if information is available for this identification medium. Such information may include a blocked ID, for example. For more information on the features of the virtual network see Virtual network.

Number of projects

The CommNode is used in all projects at the same time. It only needs to be connected to your AXM Plus database (see CommNode set up).

The VNHost can only be assigned to one project. If there is more than one project in the database, one of them must be selected and connected to VNHost during setup (see Configure of VNHost).
