Power supply

Only one power source must be connected.

Screw terminals or round connectors

  • 9 VDC – 32 VDC (power supply unit must be limited to 15 W)
  • Power consumption: max. 3 W
  • Reverse voltage protection: yes
  • Round connector size: ≥ 2.0 mm inner diameter (recommended: 2.1 mm or 2.5 mm) and ≤ 5.5 mm outer diameter (recommended: 5.5 mm)

The maximum current depends on the supply voltage and the controller's activity.

Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)

  • IEEE 802.3af compliant
  • Fully insulated
  • VIN: 36 VDC to 57 VDC
  • PoE budget provided: max. 10 W (includes up to three readers powered by the controller)
  • indicated by red LED

The PoE supply voltage is stepped down to 13 VDC by a voltage regulator. If a supply voltage higher than 13 VDC is applied to the screw terminals or the round connector, the controller will not be powered via the PoE interface, but rather via the power supply input with the highest supply voltage.

Outputs

3 outputs for powering external readers (VOUT = VIN – 1  VDC)*

Real-time clock (RTC) and backup battery

RTC accuracy

max. ± 20 ppm (≈ 10 minutes per year)

Backup battery

1x CR1220 lithium cell (3 V, 40 mAh) - replaceable

IMPORTANT

*) Undervoltage at the reader with PoE supply

When the controller is powered via PoE, a voltage converter reduces the PoE supply voltage to 13V. This voltage is available for supplying the connected readers and may not be sufficient for long cables or too small cross-sections to ensure trouble-free operation of the reader (see also Information on cabling). Take one of the following actions:

  1. Use an external power supply for the reader.
  2. Use an external power supply for the controller, whose voltage significantly exceeds 13 VDC to increase the internal supply voltage. This also increases the supply voltage for the reader and the voltage drop on the line no longer has any effect.
  3. Shorten the cable length.
  4. Increase the cable cross-section.
