Installing the fitting - SmartHandle AX Advanced

  1. Door pre-drilled.
  2. PH2 screwdriver at hand.
  3. TX15 screwdriver at hand.
  4. Caliper gauge at hand.
  5. Saw at hand.
  1. For non-MO: insert the blank cylinder.

    Feed the blank cylinder into the hole using a screwdriver

    It is difficult to position the blank cylinder correctly, especially in thick doors.

    1. Insert a screwdriver into the hole in the blank cylinder.
    2. Position the blank cylinder using the screwdriver.
  5. For non-MO: screw the dummy cylinder firmly into place (PH2; torque: 1.1 Nm).
  7. For short backplate: Insert the mounting disc into the outer fixing plate.
    You can recognise the outer locating plate by the square slots for the sleeve nuts.
  8. Insert the sleeve nuts into the outer fixing plate: long backplate – top centre; short backplate – bottom centre.
  13. For 7 mm spindle: Insert the adapter shoe into the spindle mount on the module support.
  15. Insert the module support into the fastening plate.
  17. Slide the module support upwards.
  19. Module support snaps into place.
  20. Fasten the module support to the fastening plate with the 12 mm screws (PH2, torque 3.0 Nm).
  23. Measure the door thickness.

  25. Determine what screws are required for the door thickness measured.
  26. For door thickness X: screw the 50 mm screws, threaded sleeves and threaded rods together.
  28. For X: mark the sawing points on the threaded rods and spindle.
  31. Mark the sawing point on the spindle.
  32. For X: Use a suitable saw to cut the screws to length (2x).
  34. Trim the spindle with a suitable saw.
  35. For 8.5 mm, 9 mm and 10 mm spindle: slide the adapter sleeve into the centre of the spindle. Use a punch and hammer to make an indent in the adapter sleeve to prevent it from slipping.
  38. Insert the spindle into the fitting.
  40. Insert the module support, the fastening plate and the spindle into the outer side of the door.
  42. When using X: insert the screws through the inner fastening plate and screw them together with the threaded sleeve and threaded rod.
  46. Tighten the inner fixing plate using the corresponding screws (PH2, torque 1.1 Nm).
  50. For 7 mm spindle: Insert the adapter shoe into the spindle mount on the module support.
  52. Use the 12 mm screws to fix the module support onto the fastening plate (PH2; torque: 3.0 Nm).
  55. Mount the cover for the inner side as follows:
  56. Place the cover on top of the fastening plate.
  58. Fold down the cover.
  60. Push the cover against the door, sliding it upwards at the same time.
  62. Cover snaps into place.
  63. Press the inlay into place.
  65. Mount the cover for the outer side as follows.
  67. Fit the outside handle.
  69. Attach the inside handle.
  71. Use the grub screws to tighten both handles (TX15, torque 5.0 Nm).
  1. SmartHandle AX Advanced fully installed.
