Terminate RS-485 - RouterNode 3

Long RS-485 lines with high transmission speeds can cause interference due to signal reflections. These signal reflections are mitigated by what is known as a termination. To do this, connect the two data lines (A and B) with a suitable resistor, e.g. 120 Ω, at both ends of the RS-485 line.

The RouterNode 3 offers the option of terminating data lines A and B with jumper 5 with 120 Ω resistance.

Use this setting when:

  • RouterNode 3 not at the start/end of the RS-485 line
  • RouterNode 3 at the start/end of the RS-485 line but terminated externally

Use this setting when:

  • RouterNode 3 at the start/end of the RS-485 line that is not terminated externally
