Reader - SmartRelay AX Classic

The SmartRelay AX Classic‘s controller does not have an integrated reader, so an external reader is required. The reader can be ordered separately from the controller, meaning you can select the reader that best suits your application needs. For example, you can choose from different colours, use a weatherproof version or order an anti-vandalism housing.

The reader is connected to the controller via an RS-485 connection. The data from the identification media that the reader retrieves is sent to the controller via this connection and evaluated there. The controller checks the data and activates appropriate actions. The reader can be installed in less secure areas since it cannot initiate any actions itself. In the WP version, the housing is sealed and protected against splashing water.

You can either power the reader via the controller or equip it with its own power supply unit.

NOTE

Operating voltage not reached

When selecting the power source, keep in mind that voltage drops may occur in live cables, potentially leading to a drop in operating voltage. Malfunctions may occur as a result. You can reduce a voltage drop using the following measures:

1. Increase the operating voltage on the controller.
2. Increase the connection cable cross-section.
3. Equip the reader with its own power supply unit.

A multi-coloured LED indicates the operating mode.
